About Us

Decorated table setting for a baby shower event. — Walter J Conley Elks Lodge
Decorated table setting for a baby shower event.

On Throckmorton Street in downtown Freehold, the Walter J. Conley Elks Lodge has been a gathering place for neighbors, veterans, and community members who believe that showing up for each other matters. The lodge carries the full weight of BPOE tradition, from charitable giving to honoring those who served, while keeping the doors open for the kind of real, unscripted nights that people actually remember.

Ask any of the 18-year members and they'll tell you the same thing: good music, good people, and a cold drink at the bar is the formula. At $5 a beer, whether you reach for a Coors Light or a Corona, nobody's watching the clock or the tab. The hall has hosted baby showers, fraternal visits from lodges like Rising Sun Temple No. 119, and everything in between. Events here feel personal because the people running them are your neighbors.

Membership is open to those who qualify, and the best way to find out is simply to ask a member. Thirty years or three months in, the welcome is the same.

What We Offer

The lodge offers a banquet hall available for private events, making it a genuine option for baby showers, birthday celebrations, reunions, and organizational gatherings. The space is flexible, the bar is stocked, and the cash bar setup keeps events affordable for hosts and guests alike.

The members' bar is open regularly, with flat, straightforward pricing that keeps things simple. Live entertainment and DJ nights bring out the community on weekends. Fraternal meetings and chartered lodge events round out the calendar, giving members consistent reasons to show up and stay connected.

For those interested in joining, the Elks offer a path into one of the country's oldest fraternal organizations, with local roots and national reach. Community service, scholarship programs, and veteran support are central to what the lodge does beyond its walls.

"Parking is very limited. Prices for beer are the same price no matter if its Coors Light or Corona. ALL beer as of 9/2025 is $5. Both stalls in the ladies room were gross and had no TP. I had to ask the bartender, who ask someone else, who asked someone's to grab it. Lol The hall where the party was, was hot ppl were fanning themselves with whatever they could find plates, napkin, fliers you name it, it was getting used as a fan. I can keep going but then no one will read this book. Lol"

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
